The Madrid chandelier takes its inspiration from the great hanging iron fixtures of the late gothic and early renaissance periods in western Europe. The large diameter suspended hoop, in a vermillion cinder finish, is decorated with a simplified arabesque pattern. Ornamental swags of buttons drape from the hoop to add a sense of balance, and the fanciful run-on ironwork of delicately curving lines lends to a poetic rhythm of continuous motion. |
